I always strive to remain only partially in control of my tools. That's how I remain interested in this work. The results keep surprising me.

In other words

I'm not 'saying' anything with these. They are collections of lines that evoke one set of pictures, faces, emotions and history I have experienced to me and a completely different set to you. What kind of communication is that?
Um, come to think of it, that's the normal kind. No matter how precise we try to be, nobody understands your output like you intend it. That's why we have courts deciding what some extremely painstakingly drawn up bit of text might be trying to communicate...
